    Camping All Weekend

Picture 020Picture 026We went camping this weekend with the kids and our friend Tami and  her two kids.  We drove up to Dash Point State Park Friday about 1pm.  We got to the park and started setting up the tent.  As we were almost done setting up the tent, it started sprinkling.  We put up the huge tarp I had brought and it even covered the fire pit. We started dinner and tried to get the fire Picture 023going.  The wood we had seemed a bit  green Picture 024and it wasn't starting.  Tami and I ran to Safeway and grabbed some two hour fire logs.  That got the fire going.  After dinner the kids played tag and duck duck goose and the adults sat and talked.  Soon it was getting dark and we started s'mores.  After cleaning the kids up (have you tried to get marshmallow out of a 3/4 year olds hair?) we put the kids down.  That was a fruitless chore.  They did not go to sleep Picture 035for hours, but did have fun wrestling and jumping on the blow up  Picture 027 mattress.  The adults went to bed late and it was freezing cold!!  we woke up in the morning to a a gorgeous sunny day.  After brunch everyone took off for the beach.  It was sunny and glorious.  We all spent several hours playing in the sun and walking the beach.  The kids got some good sun and wore themselves down.  Bobby and Nick found a good piece of drift wood for the snake aquarium.  We all headed Picture 031 back to the tent for Picture 032Picture 034   Picture 011Picture 014dinner and more Picture 010s'mores. Nick and Bobby played some catch.  The kids played some more and ran around.  We sent the kids to bed and this time it was not so hard.  The adults were  able to talk.  About midnight it started to pour.  I mean really rain.  So everyone went to bed early.  It was not as cold as the night before.  Sunday morning it was wet, but it wasn't raining.  We were able to pack up the vehicles after breakfast.  We all headed home.  It was a really nice trip and I think things went well.Picture 033 Picture 030  Picture 016Picture 008 Picture 009 Picture 017 Picture 018

    Babysitting

Picture 021I have been looking for some kind of fulfillment with my new working circumstances.  I love being home with my daughter all day, but I also like having money to do extravagant things like pay bills and feed the kids.  One of the things I do is babysitting.  I love kids.  I have a friend and I watch her kids all the time. I have tried to keep them, but she is partial to them, so I have to be satisfied with the occasional weekend.   I have a couple of kids I sit for, but my most exciting is a 3  month old baby named Miller.Picture 025  I LOVE being around babies.  I ran to my Mom's (because she has just about everything) and borrowed all the baby stuff.  I got a baby swing and a baby car seat.  I put linens in Mom's portable crib.  Our cat Serious Black (*yes the kids like harry Potter a lot.  Our snake's name is Slitherin.) immediately jumped in the swing and decided it moved too much.  Next he investigated the crib.  He believes it is his new bed.  He has 3 cat beds throughout the house, but this is exciting.  He thinks the mobile is a toy just for him.  Though he is our baby, this is the last time we allowed him in the crib.

    Amber's Future as A Nurse

Picture 007Amber is very squeamish when it comes to blood.  Any Picture 006blood or thought of  injury can send her into panic.  Here she is dressed as a nurse (ok, I know it is her dad's t-shirt and a wash cloth on her head, but she felt like a nurse).  Here she is operating on her dad's tummy. Then she decided he should deliver a baby.  (I think every woman's dream is for the husband to be able to deliver at least one of the kids.  It is only fair.) :)  We did explain that only women can have babies.Picture 005

    Mother's Day Tea Party

    On stage singing.
Picture 001Amber's school had a Mother's Day Tea Party.  Picture 003Most of the moms came.  It is one of the first times I was really glad to not have a  regular job.  The kids got on the stage and sang for us.  They had made presents for us all week.   The kids were dressed really nice.  The held our chairs out for us at the tables that Picture 004were decorated with flowers and presents.  There was tea, but most of the kids and moms drank freckled lemonade (strawberry lemonade).  Amber stood with her group of friends.  Teddy, Lizzy, Gillian ( Amber's best friend) and Amber.  Teddy and Gillian are three and Lizzy is almost 5.  This is the last month of school for them.
